The idea of the event was proposed by the Italian Table Tennis Federation (FITET) and the Chinese Consul General Zhang Limin and progeSOFT did not want to miss an opportunity of making their own active contribution taking into consideration the importance of the event.
This match between the national Chinese and Italian teams became a special interest due to the presence of numerous table tennis players with the highest rates in the world. Besides their well-known coach LIU Guoliang the Chinese team presented at the match WANG Liqin, Ma Lin, WANG Hao, CHEN Qi, HAO Shuai, BUT Long for male players and ZHANG Yining, WANG Nan, GUO Yan, JIA Jun, FAN Ying, CHEN Qing for female players. The show, taken place a couple of months before the beginning of the Olympic Games, was a rare occasion giving an opportunity to see the Chinese national team in the game. The numerous Chinese representatives and Italian amateurs presented at the match not only had an opportunity to watch the encounter between the Italian and Chinese sportsmen but also they enjoyed an absorbing 'internal' competition between WANG Liqin and Ma Lin who are both at the top of the table tennis world rank list.
